St. George's Day 2015

St. George's Day - April 2015
On St. George's Day the whole school acted out the story of St. George, who valiantly rescued the fair princess and defeated the dragon. With a body the length of 200 children and skin of mottled green, it certainly was a fearsome beast, and possibly the largest dragon ever seen in Bishop's Stortford.

St Michael’s Team wins Maths Challenge! - April 2014

Congratulations to our Year 5 Maths Team who won the local heat of this County-wide challenge. The event took place at St Michael’s with ten other local schools attending. The Teams had to work out and answer a wide range of maths puzzles and problems. Our victorious team, pictured below, are looking forward to the County Final in a few weeks time.

A big ‘well done’ from all of us to: Bryn, Lucy, Jessica and Cai.

School Netball Team 2014

Netball Tournament - March 2014

Our High Fives Netball team took part in the schools Tournament at Birchwood Secondary School.

The team played brilliantly and won 4 out of the 5 matches played, getting them through to the quarter and then the semi-finals, where sadly we lost. The semi-final was the only time we conceded a goal! Congratulations to the following children for a superb effort and great teamwork.

Eloise, Julia, Noah, Eloise, Flora, Freya, Bryn, Luke

School Quiz Team 2013

Quiz Team - 2013

Quiz Club is the National Schools General Knowledge Quiz.

We took two teams to the local area heat at Thorn Grove School and one of our teams won the heat! It was a very close victory and rather tense – especially for the watching parents! The team will now go on to play in the regional round in the near future.

Congratulations to the winning team:
Anna, Wilf, Ross, Billy

Our second team also did really well and these children will be the reserves for the next round:

William, Julia, Luke, Joe

Girls Football Team 2013

Girls Football Team – Tournament Runners-Up! - 2013

We took three teams to the Bishop’s Stortford Area Schools Football Tournament at Manorfields, where 48 teams were competing.
Our two boys teams did quite well and had a mixture of wins, draws and losses in the group stages; just missing out on qualifying for the quarter finals.

Our Girls Team performed superbly, winning all their group games and the semi-final. The Final against St Andrew’s ended 1-1 after extra time. Unfortunately we lost out in the dreaded penalty shoot-out! It was a cruel way to miss out on the trophy, having played so well during the afternoon. To their credit, the girls were very sporting and whilst disappointed were still excited about winning six matches in a row. Congratulations to all involved and thanks to all the supporters. The Brave Girls Squad: Rosie, India, Scarlet, Hannah, Eve, Lucy, Eloise, Katie, Alice

School Netball Team 2012

Netball Team - Local Champions and County East Runners Up - March 2012

Huge congratulations to our netball team for winning the Bishops’ Stortford area High Fives Tournament last Friday. We came top of our group and then defeated St Andrew’s in the semi-final and Northgate 3-1 in the final.

Being champions meant that the team represented our area in the Sports partnership Finals Event at Wodson Park in Ware on Tuesday. Competing against a whole host of other schools, who were all winners of their local areas, St Michael’s again made it to the final but were unfortunately beaten 2-5 by Brooklands School. However, second in the east of Hertfordshire is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of the team photographed below:
